At weddings I get to meet people from all over the place – normally who have travelled distance and are staying hotels. A year or so ago I did a wedding in Richmond and whilst talking to one of the guests she gave me the heads up about this really cute apartment she was staying in over the river. I was looking forward to researching it more, because prior to the wedding I hadn’t really been to Richmond in Yorkshire before, but loved what I had seen to far. So long story short – I checked the accommodation out on-line and discovered that they didn’t only do apartments over the river but gorgeous log cabins and this beauty! The New York Public Library.
This is the second time Ive now stayed at it. I went the first time with friends when Ezra was around 10 weeks old and this last time we went to celebrate papa Cadman turning 70! Going away with family is a rarity but one we’re trying to do more often. It’s strange how you see each other a lot at home but for no longer periods than a get together. So it was nice to have breakfast together for a few days, chill together, cook, fly drones, get in the hot tub, drink rum and burn pizzas – that was down to me ;-(
But if you are ever looking for an alternative to a hotel break away – get this one on your list. It’s brilliant. The windows face a huge field and you are 10 minutes from Richmond itself but feel like you are in the middle of no where. We’ve booked to go back later on in the year, but this time in one of the log cabins so I’ll let you know how that goes.
Staycations are so much fun – especially when you’re with some of your best people. Happy Birthday Papa! 70 years young.
