Sometimes you meet people in live that you have to. Without them in it, life wouldn’t be the same. I met Laura and Jim through a bride now friend, we worked together on a bridal shoot with her Vintage clothes and hit it off. When they asked me to document their wedding I was mega excited, but equally pretty nervous. Because I was seeing Laura a lot before the wedding I was getting to see little bits coming together and I knew that it was going to be nothing less than amazing! And it was. The whole day was completely relaxed and fun! The morning rolled into the evening without anyone questioning the time – just having fun. Another cocktail. And another pint of Black Sheep.
I arrived at Hill Top Farm in the morning and started with the preparations. I was already loving the day when Laura let me take her dress outside to take pictures of it. This was great and really lent to the feel of the day. Laura’s dress was a vintage piece no less and so different.
Not to be out done by the bride, Jim opted for a teal blue suit with red brick shoes. I love me some individuality!!
The ceremony was held at Swinton Park, light rooms pretty chairs – a perfect place to say I do!
Weddings are definitely mean to be happy occasions.
Swinton Park is so pretty, we did the group shots here and a few portraits, but wanted to do the majority of the shots at the farm to keep in with the relaxed feel.
Back up at the farm, everyone gathered in the Saloon for some toasts..
….before everyone headed down to the main barn for dinner- and partying!
The theme of their wedding was a Vintage Circus. The effort that they put into creating this was truly brilliant and everyone loved it. Little details were everywhere. It was kind of like going to Wonka factory – except I couldn’t lick the wallpaper.
Everyone person had a name tag, with their picture on and a description written by Jim and Laura. Mine mentioned something about Natasha the Flasher – purely to do with photography reasons! 😉
The favours were hand made Tea Towels. With the names of all the guests that attended.Cute and practical!
What kind of circus wedding would it be without a ring master?!? Below right – Laura and Hannah, I have the pleasure of having documented both their weddings.
Tea was served by The Marvellous Tea Dance Company. A good cup O’ Yorkshire 😉
The day was filled with moments like this. Spontaneous dancing….
I took Jim and Laura out for a little spin round the farm for some relaxed portraits.
This was the first time they had been in front of my camera together. They rocked it like pro’s!
This picture is the perfect capture of Jim and Laura to me. Always laughing. Together.
Back in the barn, drinks were being served… by the bridesmaids..
… and circus performance try outs were being held.. the cocktails were doing their job! 😉
The speeches were fabulous. A part of the day how we heard how Jim and Laura met – the tales of them growing up and the theme that was being repeated. That Jim and Laura are a couple meant for each other. Who’s happiness and general love for life spills out onto others. Such a fabulous couple.
Guests were treated to a Fish and Chip treat in the evening! A van pulled up and served you anything you wanted! Delicious. Pure deliciousness!
Spike a very good friend of the couple, lead the evenings entertainment and sang their first dance. Jackson by Johnny Cash.
This started a night of dancing. And when I say night, it was. I think the last party goers went to be just before the sun came up!
If you would like to see more of their wedding – because this really is just a highlight have a look at their slideshow here.
Jim and Laura, thank you!! Thank you for asking me to document something so brilliant based around love. Your day was truly fabulous and I wish we could do it all again!! Here is to a very happy marriage together xx
