Bordeaux.
Last week after working in Marthon, France, myself & Jim took a few days to Bordeaux for his birthday. We’re keen explorers, so getting to visit a new city sounded like the perfect plan, add a few days of no itinerary and we were happy! We drove down from Marthon to Bordeaux in this little bad boy – which Jim only just fit in to. The first day we got there we did nothing much. We arrived mid afternoon and once we had our bags dropped off we sat in a cafe for hours. Sipping red wine, coffees and people watching. Our second day we decided to head to the cost, where we found a cute but random seaside town and Europe’s tallest sand dune. Dune of Pilat.
We also stumbled across this tiny cafe that sold two things. Beefburgers and fajitas. Probably the best fajita Ive ever had. Which came with chips tossed in salt and parmesan. Yep, I left my Paleo eating at the door that afternoon.
One of my favourite things about this city is the architecture. Its gorgeous and its everywhere. Simple cafes for breakfast are nestled under the prettiest walls and windows.
Not far from where we were staying was the main public garden. Well to be honest, it wouldn’t have mattered if it was at the other side of the city we walked that much. Without doubt this is one of the prettiest parks I’ve been to. Lemon trees, beautiful buildings, bamboo, tropical trees, roses, a botanical garden, a lake, wildlife. It was the perfect place to stop and soak up some sunshine.
In fact it’s the perfect place to pop some champagne, sit next to the person you love and do absolutely nothing.
Happy Tuesday!! xxx
