Just 12 days old and I got to photograph tiny baby Hugo – what an absolute delight. 12 days ago he was curled up inside mum, and now he’s here, looking like he’s never been any where else.  There is something super magical about these really early days – whilst they are still curled up, just completely on the routine of eat and sleep, it’s obviously hard work – that baby yawn say its all!

I get asked a lot about what the right time is to have a newborn shoot and to be honest there isn’t one. I would ideally say, the younger the better, but really it all depends on you as parents because bringing these little ones can come with a whole host of unexpected challenges. Especially for mum. Your body feels different and is in recovery, your’e a schedule that completely revolves around them. And I want for you to enjoy these experiences.

With Ezra I had 2 shoots, one just over to weeks and then one at 6. In that tiny space of time we’d gone through al sorts of things from trouble feeding, tongue ties, in hospital with bronchitis, so I felt like a different mum at only 6 weeks! But I love them both dearly, because it’s a little glimpse into how life was.

Gemma, Hugo’s mum (below) was recovering from quite a tough birth and I’m sure it wasn’t the easiest thing to do, get ready for a shoot, but I know that she didn’t regret it.

Here is a little look into our at home newborn shoot.
