Behind the scenes on a branding shoot.
Getting Mary in front of my lens was such a joy. I know I say it a lot (and I’ll keep saying it!)—but I genuinely love what I do. My shoots are always full of laughter, real moments, and that feeling like you’re just catching up with an old friend… except you also walk away with a gallery full of images that actually feel like you.
Mary booked in because she needed a fresh set of images that could do a bit of everything—photos for her social media, shots that speak to both her personal training work and her Arbonne business, and some lifestyle content that just shows who she is day to day. Basically, a mix of personal branding photos that feel relaxed, natural, and full of her energy.
And that’s exactly what we created.
From the get-go, we had a plan (I’m always team go in with intention). We knew we wanted variety—not just in outfits and locations—but in the feel of the images too. Some super smiley shots, of course, because Mary has such a warm, infectious energy. But also a few more editorial-feel photos that added that little bit of confidence, calm and polish. It’s that sweet spot where professional meets personal, and it just works.
The final gallery? Ohhh my days—gorge. We ended up with a mix of brand photography that she can use across her Instagram grid, Stories, Reels, LinkedIn, website—anywhere she shows up. It’s the kind of content that doesn’t just sit pretty in a folder somewhere. These are images that help her start conversations, build trust, and actually connect with her audience.
And that’s what I love most about personal branding photography—it’s not just about the pretty pictures (though yes, we do love those too!). It’s about helping you show up confidently in your business, with visuals that match the voice, vibe, and values you’ve been working so hard to share.
One thing I always say to my clients: your gallery should feel like a reflection of the full picture. Yes, the fun side, but also the thoughtful, strong, sexy, silly bits too. You want content that captures your different moods and messages—because you’re not just showing up for one conversation online, you’re showing up for many. Whether you’re talking wellness, coaching, motherhood, daily routines or mindset—it all matters, and your visuals should support that.
We shot in beautiful light (honestly, a game changer every time), and because we had a plan going in, we got loads done. That’s the beauty of combining a bit of prep with a relaxed, natural approach. It doesn’t need to be overly complicated—it just needs to feel like you.
So if you’ve been sat on the fence about booking a shoot, maybe thinking “I’ll do it when I’ve lost weight / feel more confident / have a clearer plan”… this is your sign. The best time is when you’re ready to show up as you are. Because that’s where the gold is.
If you want images that feel easy, editorial, and completely you—I’d love to help. Head over to my contact page and send me a message.
Let’s make magic happen.
