There are times in life when your paths cross with people and your better for it. This happened with a certain family that I was honoured to have met. Last year I documented Nick and Mollies wedding. They are two of the sweetest people that I know, and being able to document a fraction of their love was an honour. A couple of weeks ago I documented their daughter Lily. After perspiring the shoot twice due to weather we got a beautiful day and had a lot of fun. Nick and Mollie are the kind of parents that I love, for many reasons. They let me work in a way that always me to get the best shots. You see they know as well as I, then when you want to get a picture of your child you love asking them to sit and smile doesn’t work. You have to get in natural – being them. Does it take longer? You bet. Is it worth it? Without a doubt! Nick and Mollie allowed me to act daft, go on mini walks, create stories and maybe act a bit silly. But Lily, she got right on board, forgot about having to smile and just did. And between listening for the sounds of butterfly wings, and telling me stories that ending with frogs and running and jumping, we captured Lily being just her. Beautiful, imaginative and adorable. x x x x
