Nestled away in Cumbria there is a little spot called Monkhouse Hill Cottages. Little cottages all nestled together, surrounded by fields, some with hot tubs but all away from the hustle and bustle. This is where Tom and Laura decided to host their absolutely amazing Tipi Wedding.
Everything about this wedding had the community feel, everyone pitched in to help. From brewing beer, helping with the setting up, bringing dishes and jugs, making food, the master of ceremonies, the celebrant, the singing through the ceremony. Picnic baskets of food for the tables instead of a sit down meal. Every ounce of their wedding was covered in love. People coming together, pitching in, because they were so genuinely excited to see two people who they loved get married.
The rain set in not long before the ceremony was due to start. Plan A was to have the ceremony outside under the flower-arch, but plan B was equally as great – everyone was inside instead. There was actually something really nice about being inside the tent huddled together, hearing the rain beat down on the tent – it was coming down hard – but no one caring. The main focus was watching these two say I do. Listening to the beautiful words from the readings and hearing her cousin sing a capella. Amazing memories.
There were so many fun touches to their wedding. Laura doing a fancy dress competition throughout her speech. Riding into the tipi on a ice cream cart – which was a surprise for Tom , because one of his favourite things is ice cream.Home made brewed beers for people to enjoy. A fish and chip van for the evening – which I can confirm were delicious! Sparklers and blankets for guests – the list goes on.
