I know the feeling. I know it all to well. When you have to step in front of a camera and someone says smile – and you forget how to, you’re body doesn’t feel your own and your really can’t relax. So what use would it be,in me attempting to get you relaxed if I didn’t know how it felt? To remind me, every now and again I step in front of the lens, I let someone direct me and I stand in your shoes.
I know the feeling. I know it all to well. When you receive your images, your nervous, excited and apprehensive. And then you see them, and you see all the bits that you don’t like. The bits you wish you could change. But, what if each time we stepped in front of the camera,we tried not to focus on that? What if we looked more at the moment and were happy with that. This is what I want for my clients. More than anything I want you to see yourself in your pictures and be happy. Be happy with yourself and be happy in the moment.
I suppose that might all seem a little gushy for a Tuesday. Or maybe I am just trying to give myself a pep talk for the day ahead. Today I am meeting with some photographer friends and taking portraits. Of each other. Something I am still not comfortable with. But here is to enjoying the moment!
Here is a picture that was taken last summer by Jim’s uncle who is a photographer.
Brilliant post – we all feel like that don’t we. It’s good to know!!xx
