A few weeks ago I drove up into the Yorkshire Dales to photograph the wedding of Matt & Claudia in a beautiful little village called Bainbridge, where Yorebridge House is based. The drive up is as nice as the destination itself. Rolling hills and just the general gorgeousness of the Yorkshire Dales. Seriously one of my favourite places. When I arrived the night before, the weather had turned into crazy howling wind and freezing-ness, all of which I was hoping would go before the next day.
The morning of the wedding was playing through bits of sun and drizzle. I started the morning meeting the girls at The Barn, an extension of the Yorebridge House Hotel. The girls were calm, organised and excited! Claudia had also made the best decision and hired Lauren Sally to do her hair and makeup. When I got the Claudia’s sister asked me if I could take pictures of some bears. Teddy bears. These bears where given to Claudia and her twin sister when they were born prematurely, at that time the girl were the same size as the bears. The bears have turned into an extension of the girls, and are never far from  them.
Their ceremony was at the old and beautiful church of St Oswalds in Askrigg, the next village along. When Claudia arrived, Matt knew she was going to look beautiful but I don’t think he was ready for just how beautiful! After the wedding we all went to Yorebridge House for drinks and photos, but before that Matt had to get out of the gates. It’s an old tradition in the villages that the church gates are tied up with string and the groom has to throw some money out of the gates, which the children collect. In return they get scissors to cut through the string!
After a lovely afternoon of drinks, laughing and delicious food and when the speeches had been done, the guests made their way to the PapaKata tipi on the lawn. The perfect place to continue the party and dance the night away!
Matt and Claudia thank you for such a beautiful and fun day, and to the staff at Yorebridge for being so great!
