Whilst  I am away I got a good friend of mine –  Jessica from the sewing sessions to be a guest blogger!!  We recently did a shoot together for Afresco Dining. She made some pretty amazing candles for the tables and has included how to make it here as well. So, ill hand you over to Jess…
Who are you, what do you do and why do you love it!
Jessica from The Sewing Sessions. We teach people to sew and craft and blog projects and tutorials too! I love what I do because it is one of the simple pleasures in life. When someone has made something themselves they feel great about it. If someone says… I love your dress/bag/scarf… the best reply is… thanks, I made it myself!
Where do you get your inspiration and how do you keep it filed? Can you recommend any websites etc?
I get inspiration from everywhere! I am a magazine-a-holic, I am the only person I know who even keeps every magazine and catalogue they pick up. I keep my eyes open to everything around me, the seasons, shops, trends, friends and family… and of course my Mum. She is very inspiring. People have started to send me things on emails which they know will inspire me, which I love. And Pinterest… oh pinterest… my new obsession!
I am a list person, lists for what I love, what i need to do, what i want to do and I keep my sewing room pinboard full of them. I have a dedicated blogging and inspiration folder full of spider diagrams and inspiration… and I email myself! I know its sad but I check my emails all day so if I need to remember something I email it to myself!
What idea do you think went well for Alfresco dining and how can you do it with minimal expense.
I am a massive believer in not spending a fortune to have a good time. Its so difficult to pick out one because I think it was each small element which made the whole look so special.
Jam Jars with candles in are the most simple way to add a whistful and enchanting look to an evening dining experience. I use them in the house as I love that rustic look. All the examples of decorating can be done on a minimal budget, I wouldn’t spend anything. Hunt around your house, and your friends as if you are a set designer, look at objects in a new way… a piece of fruit becomes a candle… a dying flower becomes a pretty ice display. Its all about using your imagination, not your wallet.
Could you give us some tips on how to make something pretty for the table be it ALfresco Dining, a dinner party or christmas.

1. Cut your oranges or (any fruit you wish to use) in half and scoop out all the flesh from the inside.
2. tie a small piece of string (for a wick) to a stick and rest so the string hangs down
3. Pour melted wax into the fruit halves and leave to set
You can get wax beads from any good craft centre, I just poured the wax into an old pan over a low heat.
You can use any fruit you like, and it gives a great scent to the room… We think this would look great on a Christmas or Thanks Giving table too.

5.what was your favourite part of Alfresco dining? x
Eating the food! hahaha… no just kidding… working with like minded people and seeing an idea started over a pint in our local turn into something beautiful… here’s to the next one!

Jess is one of the ladies behind The Sewing Sessions and I couldn’t recommend their sessions enough. They have a christmas one coming up soon that would definitely be good to get involved in. Go to their site here and see what they are about and have on offer!!!
